We are seeking a detail oriented team member, that can remain focused and on task while working in a high volume, fast paced, and ever changing professional environment. This team member would be primarily responsible to determine eligibility through the Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) for Health First Colorado (Medicaid), SNAP-Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Colorado Works, and Adult Financial. This is any entry level position that provides an opportunity for the right person to become a member of the most innovative county in Colorado. Examples of Duties for Success

  • Continuous data entry is needed to process information provided by customers through documentation or interviews.
  • Interview customers/participants regarding income, resources, household composition, and employment status to assess their eligibility for assistance.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information provided.
  • Assists customers in completing all forms and obtaining necessary documentation.
  • Reviews applications for accuracy and completeness, verifies all information, and determines assistance allotment.
  • Explains program eligibility requirements to customers, including all rules and regulations, their rights and responsibilities, available benefit dates, reason for approval or denial and the right to appeal.
  • Review cases in response to new information provided by customers.
  • Must be able to apply program knowledge to determine continued eligibility when taking action on that information.
  • Must review and respond to quality assurance case reviews in a timely fashion by making necessary corrections.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other resources including other departments and Community Partners
  • Work closely with work team members from other program areas, such as Child Support, Employment First, and Work Force in order to share relevant information.
  • Interact with customers by phone and in person on a daily basis.
  • Participate in the dispute resolution process with customers/participants when requested.
  • Prepares evidence, attends and testifies in state level hearings on customer/participant appeals.
  • Participates in regular meetings with supervisor related to performance, county norms and values, and SMART goals.
  • Participates in monthly unit and other group meetings as requested.
  • Provide reports, statistics, and information to supervisor as requested to assess achievements, areas of concern, and priorities.
  • Attend mandatory and developmental training classes as identified with supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Travel between locations to provide coverage and attend learning opportunities.

Qualifications for Success

  • Experience: Two (2) years full time responsible office clerical or extensive public contact experience. Prior experience determining eligibility for the SNAP-Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Health First Colorado-Medicaid programs preferred.
  • Education and Training:
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Satisfactory completion of an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in business, behavioral science, or another appropriately related field may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • License or Certificate: None.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
    • Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not necessary. Would be compensated for ability upon successful completion of required testing.
